8 Signs That You Might Be A Victim Of Medical Malpractice

Many people could be a victim of medical malpractice and may not even know it. Sometimes the signs of medical malpractice can be overlooked, which can make your life troublesome. Thankfully, you do not have to be the victim. Here are 8 signs that show you could be a victim of medical malpractice.

    Lack of Standard Tests

If you lacked the right amount of standard tests, such as ultrasounds or X-rays, it means that you did not get the right amount of care that a medical practitioner should offer. This could lead to a lot of things, such as a misdiagnosis. This is especially dangerous for people who fractures, illnesses, etc. You can contact an Indiana medical malpractice lawyer to help you learn how to deal with it.

    Understaffed Facility

If there is a lack of nurses and doctors at the hospital, there is a good chance that the patients will not receive the proper amount of care. Negligence is bound to happen. If you did not get medication or care because of the hospital or clinic being understaffed, it is medical malpractice.

    Ignoring Patients Opinions

While the doctor spent years of training and studying to be what they are, they might ignore the input of their patients. If you try to give your symptoms and how you feel and they did not listen properly and gives you a misdiagnosis, you may sue for medical malpractice with an Indiana medical malpractice lawyer.

    No Follow-Ups

A doctor has to check the patient for follow up care for certain cases. If the doctor, nurse, etc. Refuse to give you a follow-up, that would be medical malpractice. No follow-ups could lead to a worse condition or the condition recurring.

    Lack of Extra Tests

If you realize that your doctor rushed your diagnosis with no extra tests, that could be medical malpractice. For instance, the doctor said you had a condition right away without doing more tests but later on you found out you had a different condition that the doctor would have known if they had run the extra tests.

    Delayed Diagnosis

If a doctor would take too long to figure out a diagnosis, this could be medical malpractice. There are many conditions that can be treated, cured or prevented if you treat them as early as possible. If you ended up having a worse condition because they took too long to know what was wrong, you may file for medical malpractice.

    The Treatment Does Not Work

You might have a misdiagnosis if the treatment does not work. This misdiagnosis could make the actual condition get worse because it is untreated and you were receiving unnecessary treatment for something that you did not have.

    Differing Opinions

Let us say that you visited three doctors for a diagnosis – 2 of them had the same diagnosis whereas 1 of them had another diagnosis. If the other 2 doctors were correct and the 1 doctor was wrong, the 1 wrong doctor committed medical malpractice because that 1 doctor did not do their job the right way.

Medical malpractice can happen more often than you think. Do not let yourself be a victim – know the signs to get justice for yourself or a loved one.
